CHURCH ACTIVITIES

Calvary hosts a variety of activities throughout the year, allowing members to socialize, get involved, and spread the love of the Lord.

Christmas for Kids/Easter for Kids

Each year a Saturday event is held to teach children of the congregation and community about Christmas and Easter through singing, crafts, and other activities. Christmas for Kids is held in December; Easter for Kids is held before Palm Sunday (March/April, depending on the date of Easter).

Service to Others

A clothing closet is held several times each year to help neighbors in need. Operation Barnabas coordinates activities to aid veterans in the area, including hosting a MilitaryShare food distribution on the third Wednesday of each month. The congregation also collaborates with New Hope Ministries and the Capital Area Pregnancy Center.

Fellowship Events

These include simple things such as weekly coffee socials following the Divine Service. An annual fall picnic is held in September. Other events are tied to holidays and festival days during the Church Year. Besides these planned events, Calvary members socialize with each other.

Youth Group

Junior and senior high school students can participate in the parish youth group. Activities include instruction in the Christian faith, social events, and works of service. The youth have regularly participated in the triennial National Youth Gathering sponsored by The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League

Women in the congregation meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:30am for a time of study, fellowship, and service. Calvary’s LWML Society is an active participant in the Philadelphia Zone and English District LWML events.

Men’s Impact Group

Men in the congregation meet on the 4th Saturday of the month at 8:00am for a time of prayer, learning, and fellowship.
